Representatives of the Equipment Industries Vehicle Federation (FIEV) visited the Samara Region
From July 1 to July 4, 2019 representatives of the Equipment Industries Vehicle Federation (FIEV) visited the Samara Region with a business visit. The main purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the economic potential of the region and explore the possibilities for implementation of investment projects in the region in the production of automotive components. Within its framework, a series of working meetings took place in Togliatti with the participation of representatives of the regional ministry of economic development and investment, development institutions and business community. The main sites for negotiations were the industrial park of AVTOVAZ JSC, the Zhiguli Valley Technopark, the Togliatti SEZ.
The guests were provided with up-to-date information about the investment potential of the region: perspective sites, a special economic zone and territories of advanced social and economic development, industrial parks, transport and engineering support of investment sites. Sergey Nikitin, CEO of Investment Promotion Agency of the Samara Region, spoke about tax incentives, preferences and measures of state support for investors activity in the region.
During the talks, Sergey Andreev, General Director of the Special Economic Zone “Togliatti”: “Successful experience in location of production in the Samara Region of such French companies as Renault as part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Faurecia, Valeo, Schneider Electric indicates the prospects for the development of cooperation between the two parties in the most diverse areas of industry. The Samara region actively supports initiatives aimed at the development of joint high-tech industries in the region”.
Ms. Pascal Lardin, Head of International Relations of the Equipment Industries Vehicle Federation (FIEV), who led the foreign delegation, explained that the FIEV brings together 118 industry-specific business groups. And the Federation’s interest in the Samara automotive cluster is not accidental. Today, Europeans are interested in partnership with automakers from the Samara Region, and such meetings represent good opportunities to learn more about each other’s capabilities.
The delegation of FIEV, which visited the Samara Region, included representatives of nine French and international companies. According to the representatives of the foreign delegation, during the visit they received exhaustive information about the options for cooperation with Samara partners. And now it takes time to work out specific options for cooperation. Moreover, European manufacturers of auto components are very interested in developing their business in Russia. Following the results of joint work in Togliatti, the parties decided to organize the next business mission of this format in 2020.
Sergey Nikitin, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Samara Region, said: “Our trade, economic and investment cooperation is developing dynamically. We hope that European partners, having appreciated the industrial potential of our region and the possibilities of investment support for foreign companies, will consider the Samara Region as a priority area for locating their industries and subsidiaries. We are open for interaction and are ready to provide comprehensive support to companies in the preparation, launch and development of business projects in the Samara Region”.
In 2018, the volume of foreign trade of the Samara Region with France reached $ 166.7 million. Compared with 2017, this figure increased by 20%. According to the results of the first quarter of 2019, the foreign trade turnover of the Samara Region with France amounted to 33.48 million US dollars.
